About Us

Brightfield Environmental is a women-owned environmental consulting firm specializing in transactional due diligence and brownfield redevelopment for renewable energy and land development projects nationwide. We deliver clear, defensible environmental insight that supports confident investment, acquisition, and redevelopment decisions across complex regulatory environments.

From early-stage feasibility through regulatory closure, we provide experienced oversight and practical guidance tailored to each project’s risk profile, timeline, and business objectives. Our team understands the pace and precision required for high-stakes transactions and development portfolios. Clients rely on Brightfield to operate as a seamless extension of their team, focused on technical accuracy, proactive communication, and keeping projects moving forward with clarity and confidence.

Assess

We begin by evaluating your site, portfolio, or transaction to identify environmental risks, regulatory considerations, and liability exposure.

Strategize

We develop a practical, risk-aligned plan whether that means additional investigation, remediation design, regulatory coordination, or portfolio-level prioritization.

Implement

We manage the process through resolution, from due diligence and agency coordination to remediation and regulatory closure.

Our Services

Transactional Due Diligence

We provide high-volume, reliable transactional due diligence for renewable energy and land development projects of all scales.

  • Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs): Full compliance with ASTM E1527 and E2247 standards.
  • Phase II ESAs and Subsurface Investigations: Targeted sampling and analytical testing to quantify environmental risk.
  • CERCLA/Risk Reviews: Strategic assessments for project siting and soil/groundwater management to address continuing obligations.
  • Peer Reviews & Support: Environmental reviews of existing work to de-risk potential projects or land acquisition.

Brownfield Redevelopment & Regulatory Closure

We assist developers, communities, lenders, and investors in revitalizing underutilized or environmentally impaired properties for commercial, residential, or industrial uses.

  • Voluntary Cleanup Program Management: Navigating state-specific programs (e.g., PA Act 2, MI Part 201, CO VCP, IL Site Remediation Program) to secure liability protection and regulatory closure.
  • Remedial Action Plans: Designing and implementing remediation strategies for contaminated sites.
  • Grant & Incentive Support: Assisting with local, state, and federal brownfield grants and redevelopment incentive opportunities.

Program Management

Brightfield oversees the full cadence of environmental due diligence activities across your portfolio to maintain liability protection and keep projects moving from assessment to operation.

  • Full-Suite Coordination: Acting as an extension of your team, we bridge technical consultants and development goals, managing all environmental and permitting support for seamless, accountable project execution.
  • Lifecycle Expertise: Because we thoroughly understand the development lifecycle, we anticipate critical path issues early to ensure your project moves efficiently from assessment to operation.
  • Schedule Assurance: We align technical execution with your business timeline to keep your initiatives on track.
